New year, new adventure! This January, embrace the thrill of learning something extraordinary with Niagara Swords’ Introduction to Fencing class at Brock University. Whether you’re looking to kickstart a fresh sport, challenge yourself with a unique skill, or boost your fitness in a fun and engaging way, fencing is the perfect choice!

Our experienced coaches will guide you through every step of the journey, making sure you’re confident and excited about every lunge, parry, and riposte. No experience? No problem! This beginner-friendly class is designed for all ages and fitness levels.

📅 Class Dates: January 6th – March 3rd, 2025 (No class February 17th)
⏰ Schedule:

  • Ages 7-10: 6:00pm – 6:50pm
  • Ages 11-16: 7:00pm – 7:50pm
  • Ages 17+: 8:00pm – 8:50pm

Summer Camps are BACK!

Introductory Fencing Camps for Ages 7-17

July 3-7, 2023 | July 10-14, 2023| July 17-21, 2023 | July 24-28, 2023

Ages: 7–10 (9:00-12:00)

Ages: 11–17 (1:00-4:00)

Cost: $147.00 per camper/week

This camp provides a unique experience for new and returning fencers. It is designed to teach fencing skills through fun games and fencing specific activities. Campers will learn the basic fencing fundamentals of movements, techniques and rules. Through practicing and competing in a fun and safe environment campers will develop their skills.  These fundamentals will be taught through lessons designed to meet all abilities and ensure camper success. Age appropriate equipment will be provided.

Campers should come ready to move in non-marking shoes and track pants (no shorts), and bring a water bottle and snack.

The Brock varsity fencing team is hosting the 8th annual Try Day

This is the perfect event for anyone who has always wanted to experience the thrill of modern day sword fighting. Everyone will be provided basic instruction, then suited up and allowed to challenge their friends new and old to a duel while remaining completely safe.

During the past seasons the team saw close to 100 Brock students during the 2 hour FREE event.

Come out and have some fun and sign up for our novice program.

Malcolm McLeod named Canadian National University Men’s Foil Champion

(Gatineau, QC) Brock University’s Malcolm McLeod (BSc Physics) from Beamsville, Ontario finished his first year on a massive high capturing individual gold in this past weekend’s Canadian national university championships in Gatineau, Quebec.

Placing second after the initial round robin. Malcolm breezed through the semi finals defeating Paul Godin (University of Toronto) 15-9 followed by an exciting gold medal final with Mathiew Rochefort (Concordia) 15-10.

With this result the Brock Badgers Fencing looks forward to the coming season with anticipation.

Join coaches Kirk, Kathy & Tim for the annual Rusty Blade Challenge during Brock’s Homecoming celebrations. Bust out your old gear or you can borrow some of the team’s gear and jump back on a strip to see if you still got it!

Fencing Reunion Details:
Date: Saturday, September 17
Time: 1 to 5 p.m. p.m.
Location: Walker Complex Dance Studio
Bring the entire family and meet the current team while you hang out with fellow alumni. Dinner to follow at Cats Caboose for those who wish to join.

Brock signs Malcolm McLeod

Brock University Fencing is pleased to announce Malcolm McLeod (Beamsville) will be attending Brock BSc physics this coming fall.

Malcolm a seasoned foil competitor in the Ontario circuit has medalled repeatedly as a junior this past season taking gold at both the Brock Open and Ontario Provincial Championships and a bronze at the Eastern Canadian Championships. Malcolm will be entering his university season ranked 7th in Canada and a 4th ranked junior in Ontario.

“I am quite excited to have Malcolm join our program, he brings a wealth of competitive experience which will round out our foil program. Combined with last year’s recruit Alecs Tudor the Brock’s men’s foil program will be a formidable team at the OUAs.” Badgers Head Fencing Coach Tim Stang

Brock University will be hosting the men’s Ontario University Fencing  Championships this season.

Fencers celebrate at Brock Athletic Banquet

(St Catharines) The Brock varsity fencing team celebrated an exciting year of numerous achievements at the annual Brock Athletics Awards Banquet. The Holiday Inn Parkway Suites once again played host to Brock Athletics with 750 athletes from all teams/clubs in attendance.

2015 Brock Fencing Open Competition

The 2015 Brock Fencing Open is taking place November 14-15, 2015 in the Ian Beddis gymnasium at Brock University in St Catharines.

The annual event has become the largest competitive fencing event in Ontario fencing attracting nearly 600 competitors of all ages over the 2 day event.
